After that Changchun Conference, I was invited to academic lectures as well as talks on the recent China—USA—Russia—EU/Germany relations at five universities in three cities:
Liaoning University in Shenyang, Yunnan University, Kunming, Kunming University of Science and Technology—KUST, Shanghai University and East China Normal University, Shanghai.
Some Impressions:
Everywhere signing books. The book was known and present, wherever I came.
And there were three days off in the three weeks for sightseeing. In the province and city of eternal spring, Yunnan and Kunming, this was particularly lovely. Above that we took a day off from Kunming into the mountains to the wonderful ancient city of Dali, with the best tourist guides we could ever have, two young lecturer colleagues form KUST and Yunnan University (at the right hand on the picture below), both members of the minority people of the Bai, related to the Dai, in turn related to the Thai. A most beautiful area, wealthy, inviting, friendly, welcoming, vibrant, and all-year flowering.
Multiculture everywhere, tolerance, open-mindedness, interest in the opinions of foreigners, always keen tom learn and to improve oneself and one’s country …
The young colleagues always caring … saying goodbye at the Kunming Airport, me going to Shanghai, others back to Beijing and to Changchun …

At Shanghai University campus, a huge vibrant city in the city, here one of the libraries in the evening …

Last day, a visit to the Shanghai center, a view over to the “new city” skyline, while I had caught a gastrointestinal virus the very last day. Funnily, I had caught it at a quick egg-breakfast at McDonald’s on-campus in the morning. So, not looking very happy, feeling cold, although I basically was fulfilled and glad on the three weeks trip.
